How to Change the Username or Account Name in Windows 11
With Windows 10 and Windows 11, Microsoft started moving settings from the Control Panel to the Settings app. However, there are several settings that work better in Control Panel only. The same is the case for user accounts. You can view the account details in the Settings app but can’t rename or change the username or account name in Windows 11.
For changing the username or account name, you still have to use the Control Panel in Windows 11. Besides the Control Panel, you can also use the Local Users and Groups console for the same purpose. We will show you both methods in this tutorial, so, keep reading till the end.

B) Change the Username and Account Name using the Local Users and Groups Console
Now that we have checked the Control Panel method, it’s time to check the Local Users and Groups Console method. Just follow these steps.
Step 1: Open the Local Users and Groups Console
You can launch the Local Users and Groups console from the Computer Management. However, a quicker way to launch the Users and Groups console is via the RUN utility.
So, press the “Windows + R” shortcut to launch the RUN utility. After that, type lusrmgr.msc
and press Enter. This will launch the Local Users and Groups console in Windows 11.
Step 2: Change the Username or Account Name
In the Local Users and Groups console, you will see the list of all user accounts. This list includes the default user accounts (Administrator, DefaultAccount, Guest, and WDAGUtilityAccount) and your account.
So, to rename or change the username or account name of your account in Windows 11, right-click on it and select Rename.
After that, type the new username and press Enter.
This will change the name of your account. However, the full name won’t change automatically. So, we will have to change it manually.
Step 3: Change the Account’s Full Name in Windows 11
After changing the name, it’s time to change the full name of your account in Windows 11. So, right-click on your account and select Properties.
Now, in the properties window, type the new full name for your account. After that, click Apply and OK to save the changes.
Step 4: Restart your PC to Reflect the Changes
Just like the first method, you would need to restart your PC in order to apply the changes. So, restart your Windows 11 PC to change the username or account name in Windows 11.
Similarly, after the restart, go to Settings > Accounts to view the changes.
