How to Install Android on your Computer
Android is operating system which was originally designed by Google to operate on mobile phones and Tablets. But it has also been ported to be installed on computers as well. So, have you ever tried installing Android on your computer? Just like Windows, you can also install Android on your computer.

After installing Android on your PC, it will look like an Android Tablet. You can install and use WhatsApp, play android games on it just like your Android phone or tablet.

Install Android OS on Your Computer
So, in this tutorial we are going to show you how to install Android KitKat 4.4 Operating system on your computer. We will need Android KitKat 4.4 Bootable ISO. Download link has been added to the end of the post.
Step 1: Download Android OS and Make Bootable Media
First download Android KitKat 4.4 Bootable ISO from the link given at the end of the post. After that make bootable CD using the downloaded ISO. You can use ImgBurn to make bootable CD using the ISO file. You can also make Bootable USB drive.

Step 2: Boot from Installation Media
Insert bootable CD or USB drive and restart your computer. You also have to setup your computer to boot from CD or USB drive. Check this tutorial to set up your computer to boot from USB and this tutorial to boot your PC from CD/DVD. After successful boot, you will see screen similar to this.
Select “Installation – Install Android-x86 to harddisk” option to install Android on your computer.
INFO: You can also run Android directly from CD without installation. To do that, select first option in the list and press Enter. Then, go to Step 5.
Step 3: Create Partition for Android
Android installation setup will start. It will show you the list of partitions of your Hard Disk. If you want to install it on existing disk drive, go to Step 4. But if you wish to create new partition for Android OS, select Create/Modify Partitions option and press Enter.
Now, we will create a new partition to install Android on PC. To create a new partition, first select Free space, then select New from options and press Enter.
It will ask you to select partition type from Primary or Logical drive. Select Primary and press Enter.
Now it will ask about the size of the new partition. You can select the size as per your requirements. 10 GB would be enough space to install Android on PC.
Enter the size for the partition and press Enter. Next, select Write option and press Enter. It will ask for confirmation, type yes and press Enter again.
Now select Quit option and press Enter to go back to partition selection screen.
Step 4: Install Android on newly Created Partition
Now, select the newly created partition from the list and press Enter to install Android on your PC on selected partition.
Android setup will ask you to format the selected partition. Select fat32 or ntfs and press Enter. In this tutorial, we have selected ntfs partitioning scheme.
It will format the partition and ask you to install boot loader GRUB, select Yes and press Enter.
Setup will then write some data and ask you so create data image to store user data. Select Yes and press Enter to create disk image.
After successfully writing disk image, setup may ask you to make it read-write type, select Yes. Now, Android has been successfully installed on your system. It will ask you to run Android or to reboot, select Reboot.
After successful install of Android on your computer, it’s time to configure it for first use.
Step 5: Configure Android for First Use
The installation part is now complete. Now, start the Android OS for the first time. After restarting your computer, you will see the boot menu like this-
Just select first option and press Enter. Android will start on your computer. Just follow on screen instructions-
Select your locale or language.
Next, setup wireless network. You can setup Wifi network or you can just Skip wifi setting.
Now you need to sign in with your google account. Just follow on screen instructions-
After successful sign in, setup your Google Services permissions.
Next, you need to setup Payment info. You can also skip if you don’t want to give this info right now.
Set Date and Time & time zone.
Finally, setup Personal information for your Android OS on PC.
We know the initial setup was a bit lengthier but it is now done. After you install Android on computer and setup for first time use, it’s time to enjoy it.
NOTE: Initial Android Setup might differ for you depending upon the Android version you have used while installation. In this tutorial, we have used Android KitKat 4.4.
Step 6: Use Android on your Computer
After successful initial setup, you will see Welcome screen and now you can start using it normally. Click on OK to continue.
