How to Install MIUI 12 on Your Xiaomi Device
Xiaomi has officially released MIUI 12 in April 2020 for several devices. MIUI 12 ROMs are generally available to all supported devices. So, now you can officially install MIUI 12 on your Xiaomi device. Just download MIUI 12 ROM for your device and flash it using TWRP Recovery.

What do we need?
- Unlocked Bootloader: You need to unlock the bootloader on your Xiaomi phone. Check how to unlock the bootloader.
- ADB: You also need to set up ADB on your computer.
- TWRP Recovery: Download the latest version of TWRP from the official website for your device.
- MIUI 12 ROM: Download the MIUI 12 Recovery ROM for your device. Download links are given below.

Install Official MIUI 12 ROM on any Xiaomi Device
Before proceeding further, please make sure you have downloaded all the required stuff. Installing MIUI 12 ROM will wipe your device clean. So, we suggest you take a backup of all your data before starting the process.
Step 1: Boot your phone into Fastboot Mode
First of all, copy the MIUI 12 ROM to internal storage in your Xiaomi device. After that, connect your phone to your PC and launch the ADB console. Now, run this command to reboot your Xiaomi device into the Fastboot Mode.

After your phone has booted into Fastboot mode, run the fastboot devices command to check the connection. On a successful connection, it will return the serial number of your phone.

After booting your phone into Fastboot mode, we will now install TWRP Recovery in your Xiaomi phone. We will use TWRP to install MIUI 12 on your Xiaomi phone.
First, rename the TWRP image to “recovery.img” and copy it to the ADB folder. After that, type the following command in the ADB console to install TWRP.
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
After you have successfully installed TWRP on your phone, disconnect it from your PC. Now, boot your Xiaomi phone into Recovery. For that, first, turn off your phone. After that, press and hold the Volume Up and Power buttons together. When you see the Mi/Poco/Redmi logo, release the buttons.

Step 3: Wipe your Device and Install MIUI 12 ROM using TWRP
When you are in TWRP recovery, go to Wipe > Advanced Wipe. After that select Dalvik Cache, System, Data, and Vendor. Make sure you do not touch Internal Storage as contains the MIUI 12 ROM file. Finally, swipe to wipe.
After wiping the device, tap on Install. Now, browse and select the MIUI 12 ROM file and swipe to install.
After ROM flashing is successful, go to the Wipe menu again. This time select Format Data to completely wipe your device. This step will get your device out of the encryption loop.
Step 4: Reboot your Xiaomi Phone into MIUI 12
Finally, tap on Reboot System in TWRP and you will boot straight into MIUI 12. If TWRP displays a “No OS installed” error, do not panic, just reboot the system anyway and you will boot into MIUI 12.
