Apple has been putting a limit on downloading apps over cellular data to save users from huge mobile bills. Up to iOS 12, the download limit was set to 200MB for cellular data. But with the release of iOS 13, Apple now allows users to remove the 200 MB download limit over cellular or mobile data.
This is a very welcoming move from Apple as mobile data rates have become quite affordable across the world. And, most of the users are not bothered about cellular data. So, there is no point in restricting the app download size to 200MB over cellular/mobile data anymore.
If your Apple device is running iOS 13 or iPadOS 13, you can easily override the 200MB download limit by changing settings. So, in this tutorial, we are going to explain, how you can remove the 200 MB download limit in iOS 13 and iPadOS 13.
Download Apps Over 200 MB on iOS 13 and iPadOS 13
So, with the release of iOS 13 and iPadOS 13, you can finally download apps over 200MB size via cellular data. This was not possible in earlier versions of iOS. But now you can override the 200MB limit and download large apps. However, apps will need your explicit permissions for downloading while roaming. Let’s see how to remove the 200 MB download limit on iOS 13 and iPadOS 13.
Step 1: Go to App Downloads
First of all, launch the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad. In Settings, select the iTunes & App Store. Here, you will see the App Downloads option in Mobile Data or Cellular Data. Tap on App Downloads.
Step 2: Remove the 200 MB Download Limit
Here, you will see that Ask if Over 200 MB is selected by default. Change this setting to Always Allow to remove the 200 MB download restriction on cellular or mobile data.
We are done here. From now onward, you will not be alerted before downloading apps over 200 MB size via cellular or mobile data.
Step 3: Automatically Download Purchased Apps over Mobile Data
If you are good with automatically downloading apps over mobile data, you can enable Automatic Downloads. And after that, apps purchased on other synced devices will be downloaded automatically on your device as well. But remember, this may drain your mobile or cellular data quickly.
- To enable Automatic Downloads, go to Settings > iTunes & App Store. Here, turn on toggle switch next to Automatic Downloads.
Remove 200 MB Cellular Download Limit on iPhone and iPad
Above tutorial explained, how you can easily remove or override the 200 MB download limit on iOS 13 or iPadOS 13. However, you must be careful if you have a limited data balance. So, if you are already running low on bandwidth or don’t have enough battery to download large apps, you better don’t enable this option.
